The Moon Chose a New Queen With Forbidden Magic

PART 1 — The Queen Beneath the Black Moon

On the night Queen Seraphine died, every bell in the kingdom rang without being touched.

In the royal palace, nobles fell to their knees as the moon above them turned completely black. For three hundred years, the Moon Throne had chosen every ruler of Eldoria. Tonight, it had chosen no one.

Or so everyone believed.

Far beyond the palace walls, in a forgotten village beneath the northern cliffs, seventeen-year-old Elara stood alone beside a frozen river. She was nobody important—a healer's daughter who had never touched a sword, entered a castle, or dreamed of wearing a crown.

Then the black moon appeared in the water.

Elara looked down and saw a silver crown reflected beneath the ice.

A voice whispered from the darkness.

“Rise, my queen.”

The river exploded.

Silver light surged around Elara, lifting her from the ground. A glowing crescent-shaped mark appeared on her palm, burning like fire beneath her skin. Then, somewhere in the distant capital, the ancient Moon Throne awakened.

By dawn, royal soldiers had arrived.

They surrounded Elara's small home and demanded that she surrender herself to the crown. Her father tried to protect her, but the soldiers revealed the truth: the Moon Throne had chosen her.

The kingdom had never seen a commoner become queen.

Elara was taken to the palace in chains.

During the coronation, thousands gathered beneath silver banners. The royal priest raised the ancient crown and placed it upon Elara's head.

Nothing happened.

The nobles laughed.

Then the moon appeared through the cathedral's glass ceiling.

Its light struck Elara.

The entire palace shook.

Every candle went out.

And beneath Elara's feet, black flames spread across the marble floor.

The royal priest stared at her in horror.

“That magic was destroyed,” he whispered.

Elara looked at her hands as dark silver fire curled between her fingers.

“What magic?” she asked.

The priest backed away.

“The magic of the first queen.”

Then the doors of the cathedral slammed shut.

And from beneath the palace came a sound that had been silent for a thousand years—a dragon's heartbeat.

PART 2 — The Secret Beneath the Throne

Elara was locked inside the Moon Tower before sunset.

The council declared her cursed. They claimed the forbidden magic inside her had returned to destroy Eldoria. The captain of the royal guard, Prince Caelan, was ordered to execute her before midnight.

But Caelan had discovered something hidden inside the palace archives.

The first queen had never been evil.

She had sacrificed herself to seal an ancient creature beneath the kingdom. The royal bloodline that followed had erased the truth and rewritten history, claiming that her magic was forbidden because they feared anyone discovering the secret.

The Moon Throne had not chosen Elara to rule.

It had chosen her to finish what the first queen had begun.

Before Caelan could reach her, the palace walls cracked.

A gigantic black dragon emerged from beneath the throne room.

Its wings covered the moon. Its roar shattered windows across the capital, and terrified soldiers fled as ancient darkness poured through the streets.

Elara felt the creature calling to her.

She ran toward it.

Caelan tried to stop her.

“You can't fight that thing!” he shouted.

Elara looked at the burning mark on her palm.

“I'm not going to fight it.”

She walked into the throne room.

The dragon lowered its enormous head.

Then Elara understood.

The creature was not attacking the kingdom.

It was trapped.

The royal family had been feeding it generations of magical energy from the Moon Throne, using its imprisoned power to keep their dynasty immortal.

Elara raised her hand.

The forbidden magic exploded across the palace.

The Moon Throne shattered.

For one terrifying moment, Elara's body became pure silver light. She heard thousands of voices whispering her name—the voices of forgotten queens who had ruled before the kingdom had learned to fear magic.

Then she released the dragon.

Instead of destroying Eldoria, it transformed into a vast constellation of silver stars, rising into the night sky.

The black moon turned white again.

Silence filled the kingdom.

Elara expected the magic to kill her.

Instead, the crown appeared above her head once more.

But this time, it was not made of gold.

It was made of moonlight.
