The Prince Used Forbidden Magic Against His Own Father—and Discovered the Terrifying Truth

PART 1 — The Spell Beneath the Crown

On the night Prince Kael raised forbidden magic against his own father, every bell in the kingdom began ringing at once.

King Aldric stood at the center of the throne room, his golden crown reflecting the flames of a hundred torches. Around him, royal guards knelt in silence. No one dared breathe.

Across the marble floor stood Kael, twenty-two years old, his hands trembling beneath the sleeves of his black ceremonial coat.

“You would challenge your king?” Aldric thundered.

Kael looked at the throne—the same throne he had dreamed of inheriting since childhood.

“I would challenge my father,” he whispered.

For years, King Aldric had ruled with fear. Villages that resisted his commands disappeared. Mages who questioned him were imprisoned. And anyone who spoke of rebellion was executed before sunrise.

But Kael had recently discovered something worse.

His father possessed an ancient spell known as the Blood Crown—a forbidden enchantment that allowed a king to control the minds of his descendants.

Kael had felt it for years: the invisible pressure behind his thoughts, the strange commands that appeared inside his dreams.

He had always believed his obedience was loyalty.

Now he knew it was magic.

“You don't understand what you're doing,” Aldric said, his voice suddenly calm. “That power will consume you.”

Kael reached beneath his coat and pulled out a small silver dagger.

He cut his palm.

Black light poured from the wound.

The guards stumbled backward as ancient symbols ignited across the floor. Shadows twisted around Kael's feet, forming the shape of enormous wings.

Forbidden magic.

Magic banned by every kingdom because it could sever the bond between blood and soul.

Kael raised his bleeding hand.

“Then let it consume me.”

He spoke the final word.

The throne room exploded with darkness.

PART 2 — The King Who Was Never Himself

Kael expected his father to fall.

Instead, King Aldric laughed.

The darkness stopped inches from the king's chest.

“Finally,” Aldric whispered.

Kael froze.

“What did you say?”

The king slowly removed his crown.

Beneath it was a glowing scar circling his forehead.

“I have been waiting twenty years for you to break the spell.”

The room went silent.

Aldric placed the crown on the floor.

“Your mother discovered the Blood Crown before you were born. She learned that it was never created to control kings. It was created to imprison something far older.”

The throne began to shake.

Cracks spread across the marble.

“Something beneath this castle,” Aldric continued, “something that feeds on royal blood.”

Kael stared at him in disbelief.

“Then why did you rule through fear?”

For the first time, tears appeared in the king's eyes.

“Because every time I showed mercy, it grew stronger.”

The floor suddenly collapsed.

A monstrous shadow rose from beneath the throne, stretching toward the ceiling like a living storm.

Kael understood the truth.

His father's cruelty had been feeding the creature—but so had his own hatred.

The forbidden spell had not destroyed the Blood Crown.

It had broken the seal.

“You need to finish what you started,” Aldric said.

“How?” Kael shouted.

His father smiled sadly.

“The spell requires a king's blood… and a prince's choice.”

Kael looked at the dagger in his hand.

Then he looked at his father.

For years, he had imagined killing the man who stole his childhood.

But now he realized the final sacrifice had never been about revenge.

Kael plunged the dagger into the ancient crown.

Black fire erupted through the throne room.

Aldric stepped into the flames.

“Father!” Kael screamed.

The king turned one last time.

“Rule better than I did.”

Then he vanished.

At dawn, the kingdom awoke to a new king.

Kael sat upon the throne, but he refused the crown.

He ordered the prisons opened. He freed the imprisoned mages. And he swore that no ruler would ever again use magic to control another person's will.

Yet every night, when the castle fell silent, Kael heard a whisper beneath the throne.

Sometimes it sounded like his father's voice.

Sometimes it sounded like his own.

And sometimes, from deep beneath the kingdom, something whispered his name.

The forbidden magic had saved the kingdom.

But it had also awakened something that was still waiting for its next king.
