The Royal Healer Saved Their Lives… Then Secretly Cursed Them All

PART 1 — The Healer Everyone Trusted

On the night the Crown Prince stopped breathing, the entire kingdom prayed for a miracle. Only one woman walked calmly into his chamber.

Her name was Seraphine, the Royal Healer, a mysterious woman whose silver eyes were said to glow whenever death stood nearby. With a single touch, she could close wounds, break fevers, and pull dying souls back from the edge of darkness.

Seraphine placed two fingers against the prince's chest.

A faint black mark appeared beneath his skin.

Then the prince gasped.

He was alive.

The palace erupted in celebration. The king called Seraphine a blessing from the gods and ordered a golden statue built in her honor.

But nobody noticed what happened after midnight.

Alone in her tower, Seraphine opened an ancient spellbook bound in black leather. She whispered the prince's name, and the mark beneath his skin began to glow.

"One life saved," she murmured. "One debt owed."

The next morning, the prince woke stronger than ever.

And across the kingdom, strange things began happening.

A soldier Seraphine had healed suddenly became unable to sleep. A merchant she had saved from a deadly plague began hearing whispers from empty rooms. A noblewoman whose broken heart Seraphine had magically repaired became consumed by an unbearable jealousy.

At first, everyone blamed coincidence.

Then the healer saved more people.

And the kingdom slowly changed.

Those she healed became stronger, richer, more powerful—but each carried a terrible secret curse.

Seraphine never celebrated their suffering.

She simply watched.

Because years earlier, she had discovered something buried beneath the royal castle: a forbidden spell known as the King's Debt.

The spell promised unlimited healing, but demanded balance. Every life restored required another life to eventually suffer.

Seraphine had found a way to cheat the spell.

Instead of allowing innocent strangers to pay the price, she placed the curse on the people she saved.

She believed it was justice.

Until the Crown Prince discovered the truth.

PART 2 — The Curse Beneath the Crown

It happened seven years after Seraphine saved him.

The Crown Prince had become a beloved ruler, admired for his kindness and courage. But one evening, while studying ancient royal records, he found a list of names.

Every name belonged to someone Seraphine had healed.

Beside each name was a black symbol.

The prince recognized the symbol instantly.

It was the mark beneath his own skin.

He confronted Seraphine in the healing chamber.

"You cursed us."

Seraphine did not deny it.

"I saved you."

"You poisoned every life you touched."

Her silver eyes filled with sorrow.

"I chose people who were already dying. I thought a curse was better than a grave."

The prince stepped closer.

"And what happens when the curse finishes?"

Seraphine looked toward the palace windows.

"Then the kingdom pays."

A bell suddenly rang outside.

Then another.

Then hundreds.

Across the capital, every person Seraphine had ever healed collapsed to their knees.

Black veins spread across their skin.

The King's Debt had awakened.

The curse had never been meant to remain inside individual bodies. It had been gathering power, feeding on every healed life until it could consume the entire kingdom.

The prince realized the terrible truth.

Seraphine had not been secretly cursing everyone she saved because she hated them.

She had been trying to hold back something far worse.

She opened the ancient spellbook and revealed the final page.

"There is only one way to end it," she whispered.

"Tell me."

"The person who received the first healing must take every curse into their own soul."

The prince stared at her.

He understood immediately.

It meant him.

He could save the kingdom—but he would die.

Seraphine reached for his hand.

"I won't let you."

The prince smiled sadly.

"You saved my life once. Let me save yours."

He pressed his hand against the spellbook.

Every black mark in the kingdom erupted with light.

The curses flew from thousands of bodies and rushed toward him like a storm of shadows.

Seraphine screamed his name.

Then everything went silent.

When the darkness disappeared, the prince was standing alone.

There was no curse beneath his skin.

There was no breath in his lungs either.

Seraphine fell beside him, weeping for the first time in decades.

But then the prince's fingers moved.

He opened his eyes.

The ancient spellbook had changed.

Its final words now read: A debt willingly paid is no curse at all.

From that day forward, Seraphine was no longer called the Royal Healer.

She became known as the woman who nearly cursed a kingdom—and the healer who finally learned that saving someone meant giving them the freedom to choose their own fate.

And beneath the palace, the ancient magic remained silent.

Waiting for the next healer brave enough to open the book.
